Torres scored 33 goals in his first season at Anfield before helping Spain to European Championship glory.

Unfortunately, this isn't the official Barclays Premier League award... That real one went to Ronny... This one seems like its some small private organization that covers only the Northwest area of England which mentioned only 85,000 people across the whole world voting... Thats like a little more than the number of fans turning up at OT on match day...
This is more like a blogs or forum run by a few... This news is not even carried on most sporting web pages... As probably they are not well known...
The official one is here... The PFA Player of the Year is the one that is most important... It is voted by more fans across the whole country... Along with the FifPro World Footballer of the Year where fellow professionals voted...

And to think Ryan Giggs was voted Footballer of the Year when he hardly played much last season... You have to question their selection process...

Ryan Giggs, maybe cause of the milestones he achieved? 100 goals for club. Most appearance.
David Moyes is the weirdest one. Ha.

all deserving winners - congrats!
Everton manager David Moyes was "slightly embarrassed" to be awarded the North West Manager of the Year award for 2008 earlier this week.
The Toffees boss was recognised for the way he guided Everton to fifth spot in the Premier League last season, and although the Scot was delighted with the accolade, he thought others - namely Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson - should have been in front of him.
He said: "It is always great when you win anything but I am more keen on winning team awards.
"This was a team award really because the points total we got last year and the success we had was the reason I got the award.
"I was manager of the year but when you see Sir Alex winning the Champions League and the Premier League I am slightly embarrassed that he didn't get it.
"If I was voting I would have voted for Sir Alex but nevertheless I am delighted and really pleased to receive the award.
"We have worked really hard to get into lofty positions in the last few years and we pushed hard last year to try and be fourth and I think people do recognise that."
