Football star Thierry Henry has ended his marriage to Claire Merry and paid her a settlement of eight million pounds.The sun reports that Henry, who earns 130,000 pounds a week and worth about £25 million, has settled with his 27-year-old wife to avoid a possible ugly fight in court. Merry told friends that the money is close to what she had hoped for.
Stories were out that Claire discovered some incriminating text messages on her hubby’s mobile phone. When she confronted him, he said he was leaving and packed up and out of the family home. He soon announced he was leaving Arsenal and making the transfer to Barcelona.
The couple are still fighting over visitation rights for their daughter, Tea, who is two and currently lives with her mother in their 6-bedroom £5.95 million home in Hampstead.
“It was settled at the end of last week. Claire is delighted. Neither Claire nor Thierry wanted to go to the court as they are both moving on with their lives. She is happy with the conclusion. She said it is close to the 10 million pounds she wanted,” a friend said.
The two were married for four years and have a three-year-old daughter. Merry wanted a divorce on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour”.
Henry has also been spotted dating other women.
