The Brazilian goalkeeper, signed in the summer for £7.8m from PSV Eindhoven, endured a testing start to his career in England.
Gomes made a number of errors with Tottenham struggling under Juande Ramos before the Spaniard was replaced by Harry Redknapp.
He has overseen a startling resurgence at White Hart Lane, with Gomes just one of the players whose performances have been transformed in recent weeks.
He made a stunning late save to deny Ryan Giggs and secure a point for Spurs in their 0-0 draw with champions Manchester United on Saturday and believes he is now getting to grips with Barclays Premier League life.
Gomes said: "I feel better now and my form is coming back. What was happening before meant it was very difficult for me to enjoy my football.
"It was always going to take time to adapt to England and now I know a bit more about what happens on the pitch over here.
"Maybe when the team doesn't play well it's very difficult for the 'keeper. Now we are playing well and it's easier for me but I always believed in myself because I know my quality."
