Despite the backing of the mega-rich Abu Dhabi owners, Cook insists
that the Citizens will not be paying any more than they feel is worthy
of their transfer targets.
"We may go through this next window and if Mark doesn't feel it's right
or if we feel that we're being pushed into places that we don't want to be,
then we might not go down that route (of buying)," Cook stated.
"You get a little anxious when I think we've been associated
with over 50 players now so I don't think that's healthy for us as a
football club and our fans' expectations become different.
"I have a responsibility to the owners but I also have a
responsibility to the fans and I do not feel we should be over-paying for
something that's not truly, truly committed to this football club."
The
comments come on the back of the news that City have been told they
will need to pay at least £20 million if they want to take Roque Santa
Cruz to Eastlands.
The Citizens tried to sign the Blackburn
Rovers forward over the summer and after having their initial bid of
£12 million rejected, were also told that £15 million was not enough.
until now, they still failed to realise the real people making the decision is the arabs, not these chairman, managers and etc... look @ chelsea..
the more you talk, the nearer you are to exit..
*cough* *cough* bullshit *cough* *cough*
