Middlesbrough ace Adam Johnson has admitted he is ‘honoured’ by reports linking him with a January move to Real Madrid.
The 20-year-old Boro star is seen as a possible reinforcement for the Spanish champions, who are in search of a right midfielder to replace Robinho.
Johnson has refused to distance himself from an exit from The Riverside Stadium, and revealed that Real boss Juande Ramos scouted him during his time at Tottenham.
The promising youngster has compared himself to Los Merengues’ flying winger Arjen Robben, and proved he is following Real’s latest transfer news.
Portsmouth’s powerhouse Lassana Diarra is the latest Premier League player being linked to the Primera Liga champions in the Spanish press.
Johnson told As: “The fact Real Madrid are interested in me is a huge honour and I feel flattered.
“Last summer there was a lot of talk about me possibly joining Tottenham and I’m aware that Juande scouted me during several games last season.
“I also know that Real Madrid and are looking for wingers to strengthen in January. All things being relative, I would compare myself to Robben
“I like to dribble a lot with my face to the goal and look for the one-on-one.”
