Scolari: Give me more cash

PHIL SCOLARI has pleaded with Chelsea to let him splash the cash in January.
The Blues boss TWICE asked club chiefs for a new striker to stop their slump.
But billionaire owner Roman Abramovich and chief executive Peter Kenyon stood firm on their vow not to spend in this transfer window.
That has left Scolari worried about his chances of winning a major prize this season after just one victory in five Premier League games.
A source close to the Brazilian said: “Sometimes the best way to re-energise a team is to inject fresh blood, that’s all he asked for.
“Felipe was promised funds to buy before he joined. Everyone knows he wanted Robinho and what happened there.
“He knows financial situations have changed. But he is not asking for £20million, just a reasonable amount to get a new player in.”
Scolari spent just £8m in the summer, bringing in Portuguese playmaker Deco from Barcelona.
Scolari wanted Brazilian striker Robinho but he joined Manchester City in a £32.5m deal.
It remains unlikely that Chelsea will spend in January unless Alex leaves.
The unsettled centre-back will escape punishment for his alleged stamp on Tim Cahill.
TV replays showed his foot coming down on Cahill in Monday’s 0-0 draw at Everton.
But the FA have decided against further action.
Ref Phil Dowd said he would not have shown a red card had he spotted it.
Everton boss David Moyes also missed the incident but was happy with the FA’s decision.
He would rather see replays used to stamp out conmen.
Moyes said: “Tim did not roll over four times. Video footage should be used for diving or cheating. That would soon eradicate it.”
Chelsea centre-back Ricardo Carvalho is back in training after a knee injury and could replace banned skipper John Terry against West Brom on Boxing Day.
Scolari insists he cannot understand Terry’s red card at Goodison for a lunge on Leon Osman.
He said: “I looked at the game again. I don’t change my view.”
