Real Madrid boss Juande Ramos is demanding his board break the bank for Aston Villa wing ace Ashley Young.
The Daily Star says Ramos is risking a bust-up with Real Madrid by insisting £25m-rated Young has to be their No.1 January target.
The Spanish giants have already splashed out £21m on Portsmouth’s Lassana Diarra and a similar amount to land Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from Ajax.
But they desperately need a winger and Ramos has told the Madrid board they must pay what it takes to land Young.
The club, however, are not convinced that 23-year-old Young is worth the money.
But Ramos will wreck Martin O’Neill’s festive cheer by insisting Young is the best option.
Madrid’s former Spurs manager said: “Young is the best player on the wing in England. I have no doubt he will be a sensation in Spain.’’
Madrid will decide before the first week of January whether to move for Young.
