Alberto Gilardino moved to Milan after being a huge success with Parma, for whom he scored plenty of goals. However, the Italian international was never able to repeat that feat with Milan.
Since moving to Fiorentina in the summer, the 26-year-old has become prolific once again, already bagging 12 goals in Serie A this season.
"Milan? They were the worst years of my career," he said in an interview with the Corriere Della Sera. "I have not cleared up things (with Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti), but I don't harbour any resentment. He made his choices and I respect them."
Although, the former Parma player has been in great form, Fiorentina were still bounced from the Champions League and will now prepare again for the challenge of the UEFA Cup.
"This coming year, we aim to return to the Champions League and progress as far as possible in the UEFA Cup," he declared, before recalling shoot-out pain at the hands of Rangers, saying: "Last year, my teammates and I just missed out on the final because of penalty kicks.
"We want to prove ourselves."
The Viola currently sit in fourth place in Serie A and have been drawn against Ajax in the next round of UEFA Cup action.
