Stephen Ireland produced a goal and a man of the match performance in Manchester City's 5-1 victory over Hull City yesterday.
Ireland’s goal was his seventh in the league and ninth of the season overall, and he earned a standing ovation when coming off after making the score 5-1

His performance manager Mark Hughes said: “I thought we saw the complete midfield performance from Stephen.
"His understanding of the game, his ability to pick the right pass and pick out his team mates in good areas and score goals is outstanding. I was glad to give him the chance to get an ovation by taking him off before the end.”
More from Hughes:
"We are really pleased with the level of performance we have produced," enthused Huges on Sky Sports.
"We
have done it before this season but we haven't been able to do it on a
consistent basis. And that is why we have struggled to gain the points
that we feel our quality deserves.
"What we need to do now,
going into the second half of the season, is make sure the standard we
set today is maintained right until the end of the year.
"I thought some of our attacking play was really good. Felipe Caicedo came in and had a real presence for us," Hughes added.
"He
retained the ball high up the field and took his goals really well.
That gives us a platform. I always felt we had enough today."
