Robbie Keane feels Liverpool fired a warning to their Premier League rivals with the Boxing Day demolition job on Bolton.
Keane’s Anfield career finally seems to have come out of neutral and he showed his class with a brace of goals in the 3-0 win.
The forward is hopeful his goals go some way to silencing his critics and that the victory proved Liverpool have the class to challenge for the title.
“We can’t be too worried about others, we have to concentrate on ourselves, but it was a statement from us,” said Keane.
“The lads were superb. I can’t remember Bolton getting a shot on goal.”
He added: “If I keep playing and keep doing well, I’ve said I know I’ll score goals.
“You can’t be worried about what people say, you have to be strong enough to take criticism or there’s no point in doing this job.
“It’s always nice to score, it’s what I’m paid to do, and this sets us up nicely for Newcastle. It was a good performance and important to get the three points.”
