Crowded out: Joe Cole is worried about his Chelsea future.
Joe Cole is worried about his long-term future at Chelsea on the eve of their crucial clash against Manchester United. The England midfielder has 18 months left on his deal at the club and has yet to be reassured he will be given a new one.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is hoping to exploit the situation by trying to sign the 27-year-old in the summer. Cole has grown frustrated at being constantly subbed by manager Luiz Felipe Scolari this term and has only completed the full 90 minutes once.
That was against United in September and he showed his disappointment when he was taken off for the 12th game in a row against Southend in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Cole is a huge admirer of Redknapp having started his professional career under him when he was in charge of West Ham. Ideally, Redknapp would like to try to sign him this month but knows the end of the season will be more likely.
Cole has consistently stated he wants to stay at Chelsea for the rest of his career but is unsure whether the club or the manager feels the same. The uncertainty is the last thing any Chelsea player needs ahead of a vital match against their title rivals.

i 2nd that
spectulation at best.. Big Phil already had not many players to choose from in his opinion and with money recouped from the sale of Bridge was reported not being channelled back into his war chest i would doubt he would wanna risk selling another player but not being able to use the cash to buy new players..
city will get him if chelsea are desperate for money,
Even if Cole do leave, the report mentioned its not now... Its at the end of the season where Joe Cole will left only 12 months of his current contract to go and he can speak to any club come Jan and leave for free... Something like what Pennant is right now at Pool... But with Kenyon there, this won't happen... cos if Cole feel he is not getting enough games, he may not want to re-sign a new deal and with little time left on it, Chelsea would not want to lose him for free therefore might be willing to sell and the money could be given to Scolari to add to the squad in the summer...
