  Will the Wigan man end up with the devils?

   

  Tottenham's £14million move for Wigan's Wilson Palacios was in danger of being hijacked by Manchester United, reports the Daily Mail.

  The Reds are confident they will land the Honduras midfielder over the weekend.

  scholes is retiring, owenH is out for season, and unsure how he will recover.

  Wigan manager Steve Bruce has revealed that another club has joined Tottenham in trying to sign Wilson Palacios.

  Bruce insisted it was not Manchester United despite recent speculation.

  Palacios played in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City even though Bruce admitted on Friday he was close to a move to Spurs - reportedly for £14million.

  "Another club has joined the chase for him and we will see what develops," said Bruce.

  "I do not know if an offer has gone in officially as I am not sure where we are up to until I see the powers that be.

  "He has a fantastic 18 months here and we will fight to keep him but it is difficult."

  City manager Mark Hughes refused to say whether they might be interested in Palacios.

  He said: "We try not to discuss players we have not made bids for. That is the situation.

  "I was not concentrating on his (Palacios) performance today, I was more interested in the performance of my players. "I saw him in midweek against Manchester United and thought he was excellent."
