WANTED ... Miguel Veloso
MANCHESTER CITY last night launched a £19million raid for Sporting Lisbon star Miguel Veloso.
The Portugal midfielder, 22, has been a long-term target for Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson.
City are bidding to snatch the player from under their bitter rivals’ noses but the Eastlands club may have to match Veloso’s get-out clause of £28m.
A source close to Veloso said: “We know City have made an offer and the club are considering it. “It all depends on whether Sporting will demand City pay the get-out clause of the player.”

Man City is going to be the laughing stock of the premier league man. They actually couldn't wait till 4 mths later for Nigel de Jong where his value wld only be 2.3m pounds. Now they pay 17m pounds for him...wow bravado........
And with prima donnas like robinho who speaks louder than his feet could talk, good luck to mark hughes.

They are battling with relegation... they cant simply wait for the next window... they might not be even in the EPL by then!!! extra 15m... just small change to city

When Abramovich first pumped money in Chelsea, they were decent battlers for uefa cup places. Nowhere were they like City, stuggling for survival.
Things are screwing up now for Chelsea though.

Actually I think those Arabs are ruining the club. They are buying the players they want, not what City actually need. It causes instability within the players in the club as the mentality in the existing players would be that of fear that they will be sold or dropped even if they perform. And, Hughes doesn't seem to have enough control of the club to exercise what he did at Blackburn, where he proved to be a decent manager.
