Out of favour Real Madrid striker Javier Saviola is a transfer target for Portsmouth, it has been reported.
The Argentine hitman, who has made just 16 appearances since joining
the Madrid giants in 2007, is considered by Pompey boss Tony Adams as
the ideal replacement for Jermain Defoe, who left Fratton Park to link
up with former Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp at Tottenham just 12
months after originally leaving the White Hart Lane outfit.
Following the arrival of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Saviola has fallen
further down the pecking order at the Bernabeu, and has reportedly
already been offered to Wigan as a makeweight in a deal for Antonio
Valencia.
However Pompey are hoping to steal a march on their Premier League
rivals by doing a deal for the diminutive Argentine over the next few
days.
