Sky Sports News sources understand that Portsmouth are in talks with Tottenham over a £7million deal for Giovani dos Santos.
The Mexican playmaker has struggled for form and fitness since arriving at White Hart Lane from Barcelona last summer.
He has rarely played under Harry Redknapp and does not appear to figure in the manager's long-term plans.
Dos Santos has been linked with a move back to his homeland, while Ligue 1 champions Lyon have also been credited with an interest.
The 19-year-old stated earlier this week that he was happy at Spurs and wanted to try and forge a successful career in England.
But it now appears as though Pompey are keen to bring in Dos Santos before Monday's transfer deadline.
