Inter Milan have left Ricardo Quaresma out of their updated Champions League squad, prompting reports he could be offered to Tottenham.
The Portuguese winger made six appearances for Inter in the group stages of Europe's elite club competition but has failed to impress since joining the Italian champions in the summer from Porto and the news has prompted suggestions midfielder Jermaine Jenas could be offered to Inter in exchange.
"I am disappointed with him," said Inter coach Jose Mourinho.
"He is a player that I wanted in Milan but unfortunately, he has not been able to overcome the criticism directed at him.
"Without confidence in oneself it becomes more difficult."
Reports in Italy suggest Inter are currently pondering offloading Quaresma to Spurs in a transfer deadline day swap deal for England midfielder Jenas.
Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo has yet again failed to make the cut, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Julio Cruz and Adriano grabbing Inter's attacking places for the Champions League.
The Serie A leaders take on Manchester United in the first knock-out round on February 24, and travel to Old Trafford for the return leg on March 11.
Another big money flop by Mourinho...
Inter Squad to meen Man United...
Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar, Toldo, Orlandoni.
Defenders: Cordoba, Maxwell, Maicon, Burdisso, Materazzi, Samuel, Chivu, Mei, Rivas, Santon.
Midfielders: Zanetti, Stankovic, Jimenez, Vieira, Cambiasso, Muntari, Bolzoni.
Forwards: Figo, Ibrahimovic, Cruz, Adriano, Mancini.
May i ask which Zanetti did he used? The J or C?
Definetely the J lor C is defender.
So much for all the hype surrounding him...........
quaresma isnt that good. He is overhyped and overrated. Even if he go spurs, spurs would still sux. LOL
According to reports from Italy, the deal to send Ricardo Quaresma on
loan to Chelsea has been completed, although neither club have released
an official statement yet.
SKY Italia and Tuttomercatoweb have reported that the Portuguese winger will join the Blues for the
remainder of the season on loan. Earlier stories from England had
claimed the player was spotted around White Hart Lane and ready to sign
for Tottenham Hotspur.
Quaresma has been left off Inter's
Champions League squad for the remainder of the season by coach Jose
Mourinho as he has failed to make the desired impact at the San Siro.
Many
believe the presence of former Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari at
Stamford Bridge has been influential with regards to the nearly done
deal of the former Porto winger joining the Blues.
Should the
deal go through, Quaresma will be hoping to re-ignite his career under
his former national team mentor and will battle for a place upfront
with the likes of Salomon Kalou, Joe Cole, and Florent Malouda for a
place in the starting line-up.

Quaresma : A big money Mourinho signing at Inter.
Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho agreed to let the Portuguese international move to Stamford Bridge, where he joins five compatriots.
Quaresma, 25, can operate on either flank and will fill in for Joe Cole, who has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign with injury.
The Portugal international, who was linked with a move to Tottenham earlier in the day, made six appearances for Inter in the group stages of the Champions League but has failed to impress since joining the Italian champions in the summer from Porto.
At the weekend Quaresma was also subjected to boos from the San Siro faithful during Inter's 1-1 draw with Torino at the weekend. Quaresma played poorly after coming on as a second half substitute and suffered the wrath of the home fans after hitting a shot woefully over the bar.
Inter manager Jose Mourinho said after the game that he would simply have to deal with it and win over his own team's supporters. "I brought Quaresma on because the team needed more pace and width," Mourinho said.
"He needs to have the mental strength to overcome the criticisms and react in a positive way. "The San Siro public are not an easy one but we're professionals and we have to react to the whistles.
"He is a player that I wanted in Milan but unfortunately, he has not been able to overcome the criticism directed at him. "Without confidence in oneself it becomes more difficult."
Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo has yet again failed to make the cut, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Julio Cruz and Adriano grabbing Inter's attacking places for the Champions League.

so many singing by JM and flop.. lol
Oh... It seems another one of Stell's wish have been granted...
He wanted Grant sack and that was granted, he wanted a big name manager and he also got his wish in Scolari... Now his 3rd wish granted too although its only a loan deal but still... wish granted... Quaresma is now a Chelsea player... Hope he is happy now...
I think Roman really tightening his wallet.. since when we hear Chelsea needs to loan a player... aiyo...
Because Mourinho was really looking to offload Quaresma... He would have sold to Spurs had Spurs allow Jenes to go to Inter but Harry wasn't prepare to lose him so that deal didn't went through... So the next best thing was to loan him out so as to save on his salary... Chelsea did the smart thing by taking him on loan so as to see if he can do well or not cos Quaresma has a history of flop move. So its wise for Chelsea to test market first... Then pay the money if he turns out to be worthy...
lai lai to chelsea.
So when do we get to see him play? Is he cup tied for CL?
