Frank Lampard will be able to take part in Chelsea's Premier League match with Hull at the weekend after, as widely predicted, The Football Association rescinded the red card he received at Liverpool on Sunday.
The Blues's midfielder was given a straight red card on the hour mark by, referee, Mike Riley for a challenge on Xabi Alonso.
However, replays clearly showed Lampard played the ball first and
and at an FA hearing on Tuesday, an independent three-person panel
chose to overturn the ruling.
”At an independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for
wrongful dismissal from Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard was upheld,”
read a statement from The FA.
“As a result, Lampard's three-match suspension has been withdrawn.”
The Chelsea midfielder will now be available for the Premier League matches against Hull City and Aston Villa, as well as the Blues's FA Cup Fifth Round tie at Watford.
His last Premier League red card, picked up in a 4-0 win at West Ham on March 1 2008, was also rescinded following an appeal.
