Andrei Arshavin has revealed on his personal website that we will wear the No.23 shirt for the Gunners should his move from Zenit.St. Petersburg finally go through.
The transfer of the Russian to the Emirates Stadium has still yet to
be completed, with the Premier League analysing the documentation
relevant to the deal. A decision is expected on Tuesday afternoon.
However, asked if he was now an Arsenal player, Arshavin said: "I think
so. The negotiations came to a close and there will be details.
"Now I can say only one thing, that if I play for Arsenal, it will be at number 23."
Meanwhile, Zenit coach Dick Advocaat has tipped Arshavin to be the missing piece in Arsenal's jigsaw.
"Arsenal don't realise just how good Andrei is," said the the former Rangers manager. "He will be a sensation in England, he is worth more than what Arsenal have paid."

WHAT'S THE STORY? ... Andrey Arshavin
Arshavin yesterday claimed in a Russian paper he actually signed for Arsenal TWO minutes before Monday’s deadline. He said: “I only believed the deal was done at the moment I put my signature on the contract. That was about 16.57 or 16.58 London time.”
However, the spokesman for Arshavin’s club Zenit St Petersburg Alex Petrov appeared on a Russian TV station at 17.03pm to declare the deal had broken down. Then at 17.14 news agency AP put out a statement saying Petrov told them the deal was off.
And a full 33 MINUTES, at 17.31, after Arshavin claims he signed the contract, Petrov was quoted by AP as saying: “The deal didn’t happen. Arshavin is coming back to Zenit.”
But the Premier League are adamant all forms were signed correctly and submitted to them “bang on five o’clock on Monday”.
A spokesman said: “The Premier League and Football Association are satisfied all the requisite documentation regarding Andrei Arshavin’s transfer to Arsenal was submitted to us before the deadline.”
But the assurance has not quelled suspicions rules were stretched. Aston Villa are today expected to demand explanations at a Premier League meeting aware Arshavin’s arrival could ruin their bid to qualify for the Champions League.
Crucially the PL insisted a deal between the clubs had to have been agreed BEFORE the 5pm Monday deadline for it to be allowed later to go through.
Boss Arsene Wenger kept in constant contact with Arshavin throughout the month-long saga. Arshavin, 27, said: “I received a lot of support from Arsene Wenger, who I spoke to on the phone several times. He’s a great man.”
Several clubs want to know why Arsenal’s £16.9million deal for the Russian playmaker was allowed to go through — nearly 24 hours after the transfer window closed.
Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner will be there and “expects the topic of Arshavin to come up”.
Arsenal insist all forms were signed before Monday’s 5pm deadline and the FA support the claim.
Villa boss Martin O’Neill declared: “I haven’t anything to say on the matter. “There is a Premier League meeting tomorrow where some points are being raised, not necessarily by us. It’s about clarification to the extension.”
