Michael Phelps Finds An Ally In Brazilian Ronaldo
Ronaldo has stated that he feels swimmer Michael Phelps should be left alone after owning up to being caught on camera smoking marijuana through a pipe.
Michael Phelps has found an unlikely ally in Brazilian superstar Ronaldo after the swimmer was suspended from competition for three months after being photographed inhaling from a marijuana pipe.
The former Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter striker sympathised with the Olympic gold medallist and thinks that he should be left alone after facing up to what he did.
Rather than hide away and try and deny the story, Phelps admitted that he had been wrong and Ronaldo thinks that he should be commended and not hounded for that.
"There is no need to persecute someone that has faced up to what he has done, having been at the Olympic Games and that has won almost everything that he can in his career," the footballer told Brazilian reporters.
"It is obvious that all sportsmen should set an example to youngsters, but Phelps has asked for forgiveness and faced up to things.
"As he said himself, it was just a moment of weakness."
