Rafa Benitez has played down fears over Steven Gerrard’s fitness after the midfielder limped out of Saturday’s defeat to Middlesbrough.
The Reds’ title charge was derailed at The Riverside and their woes were seemingly compounded when Gerrard limped out of the action with 20 minutes left on the clock.
With Fernando Torres also in the treatment room, an injury to Gerrard would be a huge setback with the second leg against Real Madrid on the horizon.
However, Benitez has insisted Gerrard was removed after suffering from cramp and the Spaniard feels he will be back in action swiftly.
"He had cramps. I don't think it will be serious," said Benitez.
