WORRIED ... Andrey Arshavin
Arsene Wenger's side have finished in the top four for the last 13 seasons. But the reality of missing out on Europe's elite competition has struck fear into Russian Arshavin.
He said: "Nobody even dares to think about it. “Of course we have made our position in the race for the place in top four more complicated but the fight is not over yet.
“It turned out a mere copy of the previous game with Sunderland. "Again we had a lot of scoring chances but nils remained on the scoreboard. "It is the fourth goalless draw of Arsenal so the feelings are not very pleasant.”
Arshavin joined the Gunners for £16million in January from Zenit St Petersberg. He had not played a game for over two months because the Russian season ended in November. But he believes he is finally getting back to full fitness.
Russian Arshavin, who played the whole match at the Emirates Stadium, also revealed that his team-mates still do not understand him despite having been at the club for a month.
'Fulham was a hard match for me,' said 27-year-old Arshavin. 'Even before the end of the first half I felt as if I had spat my lungs out. In the second half my legs simply refused to serve me.
"I should get into my best form as soon as possible as in two and a half months we are having holidays again. “That is why it was very important for me that I spent all 90 minutes on the field against Fulham.
“No, position changing makes no trouble. The other question is how effective I am on this or that position. But that is for the coach to decide.”
