Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has warned Manchester United their luck is sure to change before the season is over.
Cech declared: “In any competition any team can have a bad day or even bad luck. You can hit the woodwork three times or concede a goal and you are out.
“This is always possible. You need momentum and good luck and to play well to achieve that.”
Cech cited the example of Chelsea’s chase for a treble under Jose Mourinho in 2005.
They won the Carling Cup and Premier League but were denied a place in the Champions League final by Luis Garcia’s infamous ‘ghost goal’ for Liverpool at Anfield.
Cech said: “We know all about those moments. In the Champions League semi at Liverpool, we conceded a goal that possibly never was. You can argue whether it was or not for ever — but the result was still the same and we went out.
“That is what football is all about because one moment can change the destiny of a trophy and there is nothing you can do about it. We know we have to win all our games to have a chance.”
