Fernando Torres will not be moving away from Liverpool despite interest from Barcelona, his agent has said.
Rafa Benitez signed a new deal on Wednesday and Torres has handed The Reds a further shot in the arm with confirmation he is not keen on returning to Spain.
The Reds’ goal-machine has recently been linked to a return to his homeland, with Barcelona on his tail.
But the Spain international is committed to the Anfield cause and is eager to complete his four-year deal, according to Antonio Sanz, who is the spokesman for Bahia Internacional, the company that handles Torres' interests.
Torres is wanted by Primera Liga giants Barca and by their fans, but will not be swapping Anfield for the Camp Nou according to Sanz.
Sanz told RAC 1: “Fernando is happy that Barcelona fans want him, and that we are speaking about the club’s interest [in his services], but he is not thinking of moving away from Liverpool.
“He remains under contract for four years in England and is very happy.”
