GK parrying a shot:if the rebound goes in=GK's fault

  Have you guys realised this, If the GK parries a shot and the ball is cleared to safety or what not,the newspapers and commentators will say the GK has made a great save. However,if the GK parries a shot and the ball falls to the opposition striker who then scores from the rebound,the newspapers and commentators will say the GK has screwed up... I think the GK is the least envious position on the pitch...

  Depends, because some might say that the GK didn't clear it properly or professionally enough.

  i haf experienced this personally before as a goalie and this is surely one of the most disappointing things to happen next to your own defender scoring an own goal.

  because GKs are not supposed to parry the ball straight forward.

  if they want to parry, they have to put it round the goal for a corner.

  that's why the top level GKs are trained to catch properly so that it doesn't spill.

  Have you ever seen beaten at the near post by a diagonal shot? I have. Somemore I thought I had the near post covered,somehow the ball managed to squeeze between my body and the post... That's even more malu.

  Yeah GK has to either save it firmly or push the ball wide for a corner or safer zone. Pushing it directly in front of you is suicidal and best avoided if possible. Very good GK dont make that mistake very often.
