Martin O’Neill has warned his side not to feel sorry for themselves after Sunday’s 5-0 mauling at the hands of Liverpool.
Villa are now without a win in eight games, a run that has seen them slip three points adrift in the race for Champions League football next season.
With a trip to Manchester United next on the agenda O’Neill admits these are hard times for his squad, but he is not about to let them slip into their shells.
"We've got to get back on track again. Winning football games in The Premier League is exceptionally hard. We were doing that fine until about four or five weeks ago,” stated the Ulsterman.
"It's been a really fine effort by the team this season to be up there but we can't just go and disintegrate.
"We've got to start winning some games again and, once we win, we can get confidence restored again."
