Middlesbrough captain Emanuel Pogatetz has revealed that he may have to seek a transfer away from the club this summer if they fail to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The
Austrian international centre-back has also suggested that he hopes to
play for a club challenging for European qualification rather than
fighting for survival.
"I'm 26-years-old and I want to continue playing at the highest level," Pogatetz is quoted as saying in The Sun.
"Should I leave in the summer, it will be for
sporting reasons or to go to a club that plays in Europe or one with
high ambitions.
"It becomes tiring to fight relegation every season."
Boro
are currently four points adrift of safety with eight games to play.
They have won just once in their previous 18 league fixtures.
