Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso reckons he has become a better player since winning Euro 2008.
Spain international Alonso feels that jumping on the roof of European football has boosted his self-belief.
The former Real Sociedad man, who is having a fine Premier League season, feels that he has improved as a player since the historic victory over Germany.
While Spain are due to cross swords with Turkey in their World Cup qualifying campaign and Liverpool are still involved in the Premier League and Champions League title races, the talented Alonso has said that humility is the secret of his success.
“It helped us a lot individually and collectively,” Alonso told a press conference. “Winning the European Championship made of us better players.
“The squad is in a good mood and the players are feeling great.
“The atmosphere within the team is very good and there is a top understanding between the players that you can see when we are on the pitch.
“Humility is the best formula to carry on matching our objectives.”
