  Alan Shearer insists Newcastle United will go for the win against Chelsea this weekend.

  "I am not having the nonsense that we are forgiven for getting nothing against Chelsea, because it is Chelsea, and then we move on to our next match at Stoke City," Shearer said.

  "We are two points adrift so if we don't win on Saturday and other teams do it could be five, so we have to get something.

  "I understand why the fans are outside and I understand why the press are here, but we have to get away from this Alan Shearer thing. It is not about me and I will be trying as hard as I can to emphasise that.

  "Yes, I will go out and see the fans and sign autographs and speak to them, but we cannot forget we have a job to do. The bonus for me is keeping this club in the Premier League, nothing more."

  Seriously i think they will not go down.. because i cant believe a club with players like michael owen can be relegated...

  But on the other hand... they have got players like butt, taylor, barton... these are the hooligans of the EPL.. I would want to see them being relegated.. and of course with teams like blackburn (another team which are damn physical) and Hull City.. cause their manager Phil Drown sucks!! I hate man that wear Tigerish tie... yucks

  Drogba blow for Shearer showdown

  

  Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has revealed Didier Drogba is injured and will not face Alan Shearer’s Newcastle this weekend.

  The Ivorian damaged an ankle in bizarre circumstances during training but this blow has been offset by the news that fellow striker Nicolas Anelka will play following a bruised toe which sidelined the hit-man for France's most recent World Cup qualifiers.

  “Drogba did an exercise yesterday [Thursday] where he got injured and hopefully he will be available for next Wednesday [Champions League],” Hiddink said.

  “We did some shooting practice and he then hit the ground with his toe and this hurt his ankle.

  “Anelka has been practicing the last few days and he has been getting better and better so he is in.”

  The decision to appoint Shearer as temporary manager at Newcastle has been welcomed by Hiddink with the Dutchman believing the former England striker is in a no-lose situation.

  “You have to respect the decision by whoever is in charge. There is always the reaction when something is happening in the club, it was the same a little bit here,” added Hiddink.

  “You make some decisions and you get a reaction within the club and the team.

  “Everyone knows their situation, so of course there will be a reaction in the team and from the crowd. So we can expect a tight game and a fighting spirit.

  “I respect him [Shearer] very much because I know him as a player - he is quite a personality. I cannot judge if he will stay to the end of the season or longer.

  "It is always good to have big players making the transfer to managing."

  GUUS HIDDINK has told Alan Shearer: Your fame means nothing. 

  Newcastle legend Shearer faces Chelsea today in his first game as a boss following a glittering playing career. But Blues manager Hiddink warned: “Top, top players think because of their talent everything is going to happen automatically.

  “It’s not always that when you are a top, top player you are guaranteed to be a top manager as well. “Most of the time the players who have not reached the top, top level can sometimes imagine a little bit more what the difficulties are.” 

  Hiddink is expecting St James’ Park to be pumped up with the Toon’s new ‘Messiah’ in the dugout and battling to keep the club in the top flight. But Hiddink believes Newcastle may need more than an adrenalin rush to spark their survival bid. 

  He said: “It depends on your religion whether or not you believe in Messiahs. “At kick-off he will not play and I will not play. We can prepare as we have done but we both have to sit down. It’s not a game between managers. 

  “The instant input and change in the dressing room gives the players a lot of energy and that’s an extra aspect of the game we have to deal with. "But besides this game, there are other things for managers to get interested in...

  “How to prepare a team, how to make training sessions with aims and objectives. “Training is not just for passing the time or having a nice workout. 

  “Every day we aim for a strategic, physical or tactical aspect of the game. “That’s the part where new managers have to broaden their knowledge of the game. “I have the benefit of experience.” 

  Hiddink added: “I think Alan Shearer’s team will reflect his personality.”

  Newcastle is in deep shi* ... With Stoke leading and Blackburn having won... Looks like they are going to get beaten again... 3rd home match in a row...  

  Lets hope Shearer take them to the never never land... lol ... The land of dreams... Dream of getting back into the Premiership... lol

  Things looking bad as they got Stoke and Arsenal away next... That Stoke one must win...

  Then Alan Shearer must be really bad... Cos if Blues played poorly, the new manager effect should have fair better... Its a pity he can't even inspire the team in their first match... I am not expecting much from him after having seen what he couldn't even do in his first match... I guess Hiddink was correct afterall...

  the way newcastle started the 2nd half really baffled me. Whenever they got the ball, anyone noticed how deeply they sat in their own half? Shearer attempted to play defensive football. And big mistake it was cos the newcastle players do not have the technical ability to hold on to the ball like chelsea. There were already warning signs with so many chelsea forays into their box but they were not heeded.

   

  I think shearer, going by this naivete, cannot save newcastle. Owen unlucky sia..denied a goal.
