Mark Hughes admits that teams have become wise to the threat posed by Robinho.
The Brazilian looked to have taken to Premier League life like a duck to water following his record breaking move to Manchester City but has since gone off the boil.
He has failed to score this calendar year and continues to frustrate more than he does impress, particularly away from Eastlands.
Having limped out of his country’s 3-0 midweek win over Peru, Hughes has hinted that his prized asset may have to be rested for Saturday’s game at Arsenal.
“Robbie’s come into a new league, a new team, a new club and he had a great impact initially,” he said in the Daily Star. “But he has not played week in week out for a long time.
“Maybe teams now have the knowledge of what he is capable of doing if he is allowed to play.
“But we still feel that from now until the end of the season he will be an important player for us.
“This week he has had a lot of travelling. Every time he goes away on international duty it’s not just a little hop into Europe, it’s a trip across continents. That can have an impact.”
