Wigan manager Steve Bruce is furious at Amir Zaki’s continued absence from the club.
The Egyptian striker has not arrived back in Wigan since going on international duty with Egypt nine days ago.
The 25-year-old is believed to have injured a hamstring playing - and
scoring - for his country against Zambia last Sunday, but Bruce is
still perplexed by the situation.
“I’ve had contact with his agent but it is staggering what is going
on and he is showing the utmost disrespect to his team-mates,” said
Bruce. “I don’t know where he is. Maybe in Egypt.”
Zaki, on loan from Egyptian outfit El Zamalek, is the club’s top scorer
this season with 10 top-flight strikes. However, his future at the club
is now in serious doubt following his latest mystery disappearance.
“Has he played his last game for us? Who knows?” Bruce said. “If we’re not careful, the lunatics will soon be running the asylum and then we’ll all be in trouble.”
