Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo was delighted for Federico Macheda after his scoring debut on Sunday against Aston Villa.
"It reminded me of when I started to play for Manchester United," he said.
"It is not easy to play at this club, so I understand the feeling when he scored yesterday.
"It is one of the best days of his life. He is young and he is still improving, so it is good to be part of the first team. I was really happy for him."
Macheda clearly has a lot of work ahead of him if he is to emulate Ronaldo by becoming the best player in the world.
However, the Portuguese star feels if his young team-mate is willing to listen to the correct advice and follow the example set by others, including himself, it can be done.
"I had very good support from the older players when I started here," he said.
"I looked to them for help, just as Federico will.
"I would like the younger players to follow me for the same type of career. It is very important to behave properly and to be intelligent."
