Everyone expected Ronaldo - né The Fat One - to flash his superior technique and nose for goal back in Brazil. The legs may go, but class remains.
This weekend Ronaldo scored a goal and forced a mess in the announcer’s pants. No surprise there. But it wasn’t the poacher’s goal or cleaning up a mess in front of goal or a header that we all expected. Instead Ronaldo turned back the clock and turned on the jets to easily outsprint his defender over about 30 yards and put in a finisher’s finish. Brazilian television have determined with all sorts of fancy maths that Ronaldo clocked an impressive 36km/h on rickety knees.
Maybe he’s not done quite yet after all?
