The Arsenal skipper was slapped with a double rap for his part in the ‘Spitgate’ storm following the Gunners’ 2-1 FA Cup win over Hull last month.
The Spaniard, who did not play due to injury, ran on to the Emirates pitch at the final whistle dressed in jeans and a hooded top. It is also alleged he spat at Tigers No 2 Brian Horton.
But boss Arsene Wenger said: “If he had worn a black tie he wouldn’t have been charged. Nobody told me a player cannot go on the pitch after a game.”
Hull boss Phil Brown also faces an improper conduct charge over comments he made about ref Mike Riley.
It was Brown who publicly accused Fabregas of spitting at his assistant.
But Wenger insisted: “We have nothing to hide. The FA have made such a big thing of this. Nothing about Cesc’s behaviour troubles me. I’m sure he will not get banned.
“I believe he was dressed in a proper way. Why should a boy of 20 not be able to dress in a relaxed manner?”
