Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre is expecting an emotional return to his former home, Old Trafford.
The Frenchman spent the best part of a decade with Manchester United and admits it will be a strange feeling playing against the Red Devils in such a big match like Wednesday night’s Champions League semi-final.
“It will be bizarre, to go into the away changing room and see the supporters again and all those people who work at the club,” he told L’Equipe.
“It is going to be emotional. Nine years at the same club – it’s a long time. It’s a part of my life.”
Silvestre also spoke of becoming the first player to move from United to Arsenal since 1987 and admits that Sir Alex Ferguson helped him in the move.
“It surprised everyone, but I wanted a new challenge," he said.
“Ferguson did me a favour. He had never done it before."
