Real Madrid veteran Fabio Cannavaro has confirmed that he rejected the chance to join Manchester City.
The Italy defender, 35, is due to return to his homeland with Juventus this summer despite opposition from the club’s supporters.
His agent, Gaetano Fedele, told Radio Kiss Kiss: “The proposal made by Juventus is the most fascinating for many reasons.”
“We are waiting for the Bianconeri to send Real Madrid a fax.
“You'll all need to wait around five days before we define his contract and solve other problems that have cropped up in the last few days.”
And, although Cannavaro has now confirmed City did make an offer, he says he felt it would hinder his chances of playing in next year’s World Cup.
“I told my agent to find a solution,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I didn’t want to have start from scratch again – not in a World Cup year.
“That’s why I rejected offers from Bayern Munich and Manchester City.”
Premier League wingers will run right pass him. Smart move
