David Moyes has accused The Football Association of being ‘hypocritical’ and ‘disrespectful’ after Everton received an allocation of just 25,000 tickets for the FA Cup final.
Both Everton and Chelsea received the same number of tickets for the final on May 30, meaning 40,000 have been set aside for neutrals and corporate fans.
The Toffees have been angered by the fact that so many of their supporters will miss out on the club’s first Wembley final since 1995 and Moyes has even stated that the decision to give Everton 25,000 tickets borders on treating the competition with disrespect.
“It’s really disappointing and something is not right that 40,000 tickets have gone to corporate people,” said Moyes.
“I understand these people are the ones putting some money into it and probably helped build Wembley in the first place but it’s not right for the average punter.
“All through the season they talk about wanting clubs to put out strong teams all the way through the FA Cup.
“The press and supporters get annoyed if teams don’t field their best players or if you rest one or two. When that happens, people say you are disrespecting the competition.
“Then The FA only give teams that get to the final 25,000 tickets. So who is disrespectful now? The biggest disrespect has come from The FA.
“It is a little bit hypocritical. They want us to support the competition, speak well about it, play everyone in it and then, when we get there, give the teams a limited amount of tickets.
“There is nothing Everton can do but I feel really bad for the supporters.
“We could probably take three times the number of tickets we have got and I’d love them to be there.
“I just hope they all get in somehow. I think The FA need to look at how they allocate tickets.”
Really meh? How much Portsmouth and Cardiff got? Or even Man Utd and Chelsea 2 years ago
