Rafa Benitez expects Fernando Torres to be fit to face West Ham, but doubts remain over Xabi Alonso.
Torres missed the weekend 3-0 victory over Newcastle with a hamstring strain, but the Liverpool manager expects his star forward to return to full training on Thursday.
More worrying is the injury suffered by Alonso under the shocking challenge of Joey Barton, who left the midfielder with severe bruising as he left the field on a stretcher.
Alonso was able to walk out of Anfield, but Benitez could not confirm his availability for Upton Park, although Javier Mascherano is definitely fit.
"Xabi is the main doubt for the weekend," Benitez told Liverpool’s official website.
"He has been working and hopefully he will be better in a few days. He is improving but we have to wait.
"We'll have to check him for the weekend because it is more serious than Mascherano's injury.
"Torres is training with the physios and maybe tomorrow he will start training with the rest of the team. I think he will make the weekend."
Lolx hope it recover quickly
