Former Inter striker Adriano has signed for Brazilian side Flamengo, and will be officially unveiled by the club on Thursday.
The powerful forward had his contract with the Nerazzurri terminated by mutual consent in March, after failing to return from international duty with Brazil.
Stating a disillusionment with football and an intention to take some time out of the game, the former Parma and Fiorentina hitman ended his eight-year association with the Milan outfit.
However, upon returning to his native land Adriano was persuaded to consider making a swift return to action with Rio de Janeiro-based side Flamengo, with whom he started his career in 2000.
The 27-year-old will hope to emulate fellow Brazilian Ronaldo, who – after training with Flamengo following his release from Inter’s rivals Milan last summer – has overcome a knee injury to reinvigorate his career with Corinthians.
