Gerrard: Reds are too good not to win the title

Steven Gerrard claims that this Liverpool side is too good not to claim the Premier League title in the near future.
Gerrard is more confident than ever of picking up the title.
The Reds captain still believes they can 'nick' the title this season, but more realistically claims he will not have to wait long before the club end their 19 year title drought.
"I honestly believe that this team will win the Premier League," Gerrard told the Liverpool FC magazine. "I believe I'll get my hands on it. If I said, 'I don't think we're going to win it' what would be the point of carrying on?
As a boyhood Liverpool fan, Gerrard has been more frustrated than most at the club's failure to claim the title since 1990; while the closest he has come has been a distant second seven years ago.
Liverpool looked like they would end Manchester United's dominance this season, but that is now looking increasingly unlikely, with the club three points behind United having played a game more.
Despite United's advantage, though, Gerrard still retains hope Liverpool can pip Sir Alex Ferguson's men to title and thinks if it doesn't happen this season, then it won't be long before they do.
"We're so close to doing it this season I believe we can still nick it,'' he said. "If we don't and United close it out, then we're going to have a right good go at it over the next three, four or five years and I believe we're too good not to win it.''
The skipper added that the side would have to improve, but maintained his confidence in his team-mates.
''There have been too many draws at Anfield for our liking.'' he said. ''We are a great side away from home. We are strong, can be physical, don't lose too many goals and are dangerous opponents for anyone.
''It is difficult sometimes when you come up against these teams who arrive at Anfield with virtually every player behind the ball. No-one comes to play attacking football because they respect what we can do and know they're going to be picked off and destroyed. (WHAT A JOKE~!! so Chelsea score 3 aganist them is fake 1 eh?)
''We need to be more ruthless at home. It would certainly have helped us out this season. There are points there that, if we had taken them, we would be top with three games to go.''
He added; ''But we will keep going until the end. We won't surrender when we are so close. Winning the title with this club would mean the world to me.''
Gerrard admits to feelings of 'anger' in previous campaigns when Liverpool have been out of the race by Christmas, and such memories have acted as extra motivation this time around.
He added: ''I'm not going to lie. Being out of the title race in January and being 30 points behind the leaders is frustrating for me.
''If being in that position doesn't frustrate you, then you are not the player for me. There's something wrong with you. But that anger and those feelings have helped me, certainly, and the others to get much closer to it this season.
''We have to be proud of our achievements this season, whatever happens.''

they are definitely the best team this season which really surprises me.
if they strengthen correctly then it wont be long they win this 1st premiership title.

they may be better over the last 5 games, but the table shows the best team over 38 games...
Liverpool may not have lost @ home but they got many draws..
I believe Gerrard knows his time is ending and he wants to win a title else, he will just be an owen, fowler, a good player who just won nothing..

This season is not likely.. next season, maybe.... Man U is a great team like Chelsea, Arsenal and even Everton or Aston villa. We cannot just focus on Man U. Teams are improving so not only we need to look out for Man U.
I sure hope we can get better strikers, one who can score more goals for Liverpool. Together with Torres, Liverpool will surely win the BPL title.... very soon. :)

i think every season it becomes tougher and tougher. its just how the big 4 teams are gonna rotate their positions. at the moment i doubt everton or villa can break into the top 4.
