Aston Villa skipper Martin Laursen will make a decision next week whether or not he is going to hang up his boots.
The defender has been sidelined since January with a knee injury that has put his future in the game in doubt.
The 31-year-old has sought the advice of various specialists and must now decide if he can continue playing for Villa next season.
“I am almost 100 per cent sure that I will reach a decision by mid next week," Laursen told Onside.dk.
In his absence Villa have struggled for form and have seen their excellent start to the season fall away with their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League disappearing.
The defender, who began his career in Denmark before securing moves to Parma and then Milan, has been dogged by persistent knee injuries throughout his time in football.
