Barcelona have been dealt a huge blow after Josep Guardiola revealed fears that Andres Iniesta will miss the Champions League final.
Iniesta aggravated a thigh injury during Sunday’s 3-3 draw with Villarreal, a result that prevented Barcelona from lifting the Spanish title.
The little schemer has been fundamental to Barca’s success this season, forming one leg of a creative tripod alongside Lionel Messi and Xavi.
It was Iniesta’s goal and second-half display against Chelsea that dragged Barca to Rome, but Guardiola admits the injury does not look good.
"I don't have a good feeling," the young coach said on Sunday night.
"We will do tests tomorrow, but there is no way he will play this week.
"We will try to get him fit for Rome - that's all we can do. We will have to see what the tests reveal."
Iniesta joins Thierry Henry on the sidelines, and both players will definitely miss the forthcoming Copa Del Rey final.
