Newcastle vs Middlesbrough

Shearer set for £100m shootout
North-East strugglers Toon and Boro clash at St James’ Park knowing Premier League safety is worth at least £50m each.
Shearer, yet to win since stepping into the hotseat, said: “It will be the biggest game I’ve been involved in and we are playing for big stakes. There is a lot of pressure on both teams.
“This is as important and as big as it will be without a shadow of a doubt. “A win could get us out of the bottom three. A win would give everyone a huge lift in confidence and I believe we can do it, I really do. If we create chances like we did in the last game one will go in.”
Relegation for Newcastle would not only see thousands of disillusioned Toon fans go AWOL but also destroy owner Mike Ashley’s hopes of making a profit on his £220m investment.
Toon will not be even worth half of that if they fall into the Championship and the stakes have never been higher both on and off the pitch.
Shearer admitted: “We have still got enough time and enough in the dressing room to get us out of this and I have confidence in my squad.
“Results keep going for us elsewhere. We could have changed things for the better ourselves but we haven’t. Other teams have not taken advantage and we are all still in there fighting.”
Shearer could be in the comfort of a TV studio rather than be battling it out in the red-hot heat of the most crucial Tyne-Tees derby of all time.
Shearer added: “We have to win. Thankfully I don’t have to listen to the pundits any longer.
“I understand the fans’ nerves will be going but stick with us because I’m sure we’ll get it right.”
Newcastle Better win this game
staying in the epl surely worth alot of $$$$$$$$$$$
Lolx Now Hull City keep losing Newcastle or Boro may go above 18th place with goal diff
this is the more exciting match this season!!! 1-1!!
Full Time Scored
Newcastle 3 Boro 1 (Newcastle finally go 17th Place on goal diff )

Alan Shearer proved to have the Midas touch with substitutions as Newcastle United got the victory that could preserve their Premier League status and condemn Middlesbrough to life in the Championship.
Manager Shearer gambled when he replaced Michael Owen with Obafemi Martins 20 minutes from time with the scoreline locked at 1-1 - an outcome unsuitable to either side as they went in search of the victory required to keep their survival hopes alive.
It was a ploy that paid off in spectacular style as Martins scored within seconds, turning on a loose ball inside the area to shoot low past Middlesbrough keeper Brad Jones and send St James' Park into ecstasy.
Middlesbrough's spirit was broken after a brave fight, and their fate in this match - and in all likelihood this season - was sealed when another Shearer substitute, Peter Lovenkrands, slammed home Newcastle's third from close range with four minutes remaining.
It marked a dramatic change in fortune for Shearer, who had failed to record a victory since taking temporary charge at St James' Park in a bid to rescue Newcastle from relegation.
Newcastle now also have the psychological advantage of moving out of the bottom three and plunging Phil Brown's Hull City into the relegation places as the season reaches its climax.
i really hope Hull get relegated, cos of that stupid phil brown
