Chelsea are ready to spend big for Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Mirror says Didier Drogba will leave Chelsea this summer and Arsenal’s Adebayor is favourite to replace him.

Carlo Ancelotti, who has given a verbal undertaking to Roman Abramovich that he will leave AC Milan for Chelsea, has named Adebayor as the man he wants to replace Drogba.

Adebayor’s future at Arsenal has been clouded in doubt for over a year and his recent performances in the Champions League semi-final games with Manchester United infuriated Gunners fans.

Drogba will pay the price for his outrageous Champions League antics and Chelsea will want around £10million for the African, even though he has just 12 months left on his contract.

Wenger urges Arsenal fans: Stop slaughtering Adebayor.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was unhappy with fans "slaughtering" striker Emmanuel Adebayor at this week's Arsenal shareholders Q&A.

"Adebayor has done fantastically well for the club," he said. "All the big clubs wanted him last summer and it will be the same again this summer. Some players have bad periods. If they don't do well it is because they have lost confidence. But the only way to help a guy who has lost confidence is to support him. Slaughtering him it does not help him.

"One day you will look back at this period and say it is not disastrous. I am not pretentious enough to think I do not make mistakes. But you have to give me one credit."

Arsene Wenger kum gong la... Ask us dont slaughter adebayor... Na bei.. Adebayor each week take so much money then he score so little goals, some more give poor attitude, no commitment and dive too.

Chelsea owner Abramovich ready for Man City cash battle over Adebayor

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to outbid Manchester City for Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger opened the door to selling Adebayor at a fans Q&A last night.

“I don’t want to go into any individual assessment of who we want to keep and who not, at the moment, and normally Adebayor is part of our plans for the future,” he said.

“And, if I feel that a player should go, or could go, why not sell him to one of the other top four?

“It’s unusual but we sold Ashley Cole to Chelsea and we bought William Gallas, so you can never say I never do it, because I’ve already done it.”

Wenger also admitted a deal to sell Adebayor for £30m to Milan almost happened last summer. Instead, he stayed and signed a new, £80,000-a-week contract.

“I believe he has been disturbed at the start by a little bit of bad feeling from the fans because he was close to leaving the club, and it unsettled him a little bit,” he said.

Wenger also hinted the whole story about what happened with Adebayor a year ago had yet to come out.

“I cannot tell you all the truth about what happened behind the scenes,” he said.

A source close to Abramovich admitted last night to the Daily Star: “If Wenger is ready to sell, Roman will go for him.

“But if Arsenal ask too much, he will not pay it.”

that money can be use to booaster the central defensive and add some muscle to the midfield.
