Zenit St Petersburg star Danny has revealed a serious knee injury scuppered his chances of a dream move to Chelsea.

The Portugal international was a record Russian signing when he joined Zenit for £25 million from Dynamo Moscow last summer but has recently been ruled out for six months after rupturing knee ligaments.
The player insists the injury came at the worst possible time as an offer was on the table from Chelsea to take the player to The Premier League.
"This has all happened at a time when other European leagues were coming to an end in a few weeks," he told Portuguese newspaper Record.
"And I incidentally had an offer from Chelsea, and the probability of a transfer to England was very high."
And the player, who has returned to Portugal for surgery on the injury, admits any hope of a switch to The Blues has had to be put on hold.
"We have to wait and see what happens next. At Chelsea they know me as a player very well, but all will depend on how my operation goes," he added.
"At the moment I have a different goal: to make a full recovery."
Lucky Chelsea never buy him.... ![]()
