  On the spot: Xabi Alonso is set for another tug-of-war this summer

   

  Juventus are set to renew their interest in Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

  The Italians were keen to sign the Spain Euro 2008 winner last summer, but were not prepared to meet his £16million valuation. However, he is back in their sights.

  Despite another excellent season for Alonso, Rafa Benitez may again consider offloading him to fund moves for Portsmouth full-back Glen Johnson and Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry.

  Juventus have set about re-modelling their midfield, signing Brazil playmaker Diego from Werder Bremen for £21million.

  And now they are considering moves for Alonso, 27, Roma's Chile international David Pizarro, and highly rated young Udinese midfielder Gaetano D'Agostino, according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

  Alonso would be the most expensive option of the three and Juventus are likely to face competition from Real Madrid if Liverpool indicate they are willing to sell.

  the reason I can think of why he wants to leave was because Rafa wanted to sign Barry and sell him last season? He won't forget about this, remember. Think about it this way. your employer hire a newbie to do your work, and hinted at you to quit, but you wont quit cos you havent found a job yet. once you have found new work at a new co, you will happily leave the co isnt it.
