Sunderland have released veteran midfielder Dwight Yorke along with seven other players.

Republic of Ireland international David Connolly, 31, has also been released, along with midfielder Arnau Riera, defenders Peter Hartley and Niall McArdle and goalkeepers Nick Colgan and Darren Ward.
Hartley has secured a switch to hometown club Hartlepool, it has been confirmed.
The club has also revealed that striker Michael Chopra will remain at Cardiff on a permanent basis, while loanees Calum Davenport, Tal Ben Haim and Djibril Cisse will all return to their parent clubs.
