  Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has been found guilty of two speeding offences and convicted of failing to declare who was driving his vehicle at the time.
  
  The 26-year-old was caught breaking a 50mph speed limit on the M11 at Chigwell, Essex, in April and June 2008.

  The former West Ham and Portsmouth front-man is now set for an automatic driving ban.

  Defoe already had six points on his driving licence, and is now expected to receive an additional 18 for his latest misdemeanours.

  "In effect this was a technical assault on the evidence which I find has no merit," Mark Jabbitt, the Deputy District Judge who delivered the verdicts at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court, said as reported by the Telegraph.

  "The evidence was not challenged in any real sense and as a result I find that he [Defoe] was the driver on each occasion.

  "If Mr Defoe had wanted to assert anything he could have come to court today, that would have been an issue of substance."
