  Real Madrid are planning a £30 million bid for Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic.

  The Belfast Telegraph says Real Madrid are set to launch an audacious bid to lure Vidic to the Bernabeu.

  It is understood Vidic’s wife has failed to adapt to life in England and would prefer to move to a hotter climate and new Real President Florentino Perez is ready to make his move.

  United will not be keen to do business with Real though, who continue to publicly court World Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo.

  If Vidic gives the slightest hint he could leave the Premier League champions, Barcelona will also make their move, but Real have put themselves firmly into the driving seat.

  Nemanja Vidic's agent has insisted the Serbia international is happy with life at Manchester United.

  The no-nonsense defender has been linked with a move to Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan after three-and-a-half seasons at Old Trafford. But his agent, Silvano Martina, has dismissed claims that the 27-year-old is ready to quit the club.

  'There are no prerequisites for Vidic leaving Manchester,' Martina told TMW. 'Despite the Champions League final loss, he is at a great club with much ambition, and which has reached the final of the greatest European competition for two consecutive years.

  'This season, he also won the Premier League.'

  Vidic has also today been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

  Manchester United are battling to keep defender Nemanja Vidic.

  The Daily Mail says United face a battle to keep hold of defensive kingpin Vidic, with AC Milan and Barcelona eager to sign him.

  United had concerns as Vidic’s wife Ana has struggled to settle in Manchester and is keen on moving away from the city to a better climate.

  Now Milan and Barca hope to capitalise on the Serb’s predicament and tempt him away with a bumper £25million deal and the benefits of a new environment.

  United will resist all offers for the 27-year-old, who has just enjoyed an outstanding season.

  He is pivotal to their plans and hugely popular with staff and fans alike, but club insiders say they recognise there could be a problem.

  Vidic feels that Old Trafford is the best place for his football career but is worried about the strain which could be placed upon that if his wife remains unhappy.
