  LIVERPOOL must win the title next season to keep Manchester United in their place, according to Steven Gerrard. 

  Alex Ferguson and his United are level with the Reds on 18 championships, although Liverpool still lead in European Cups by five to three. 

  And Kop skipper Gerrard believes it is vital Liverpool stay on top as England's most decorated club. 

  Gerro said: "Man United are our big rivals so it's nice to still be ahead of them in European Cups. 

  "But they've caught up on leagues and it's important we win the league and go back ahead of them as far as titles are concerned."
