  Chelsea midfielder Deco is close to finalising his reunion with Jose Mourinho on a free transfer to Inter Milan.

  Inter manager Mourinho has not been put off by Deco’s recent struggle to make an
  impact — and the ex-Chelsea boss may yet return for Ricardo Carvalho.

  Deco, 31, said: ‘It would be a pleasure to be back with Mourinho, but I don’t want to go into details, because it’s not me who’s dealing with the matter.’ 

  Carvalho is prepared looks set to leave Chelsea also after suffering what he called
  'the worst year of my life' while battling with injury.

  'First they have to reach an agreement with the club and then talk to me, but I am available for whoever wants me the most,' the Portuguese said.

  'It has been the worst year of my life, with injury after injury.'

  'I want to be where I feel good. It's obvious that it's hard now to respond to these questions because I had four fantastic years at Chelsea and this last year hasn't been good at all.'

  Chelsea’s on-loan winger Ricardo Quaresma is also heading back to Inter, although the Italians are considering an offer from Genoa.

  Allardyce hopes to capture $2.5m Smith as Newcastle look to slash wages.

  

  Smith: could be a bargain priced replacement for the departing Roque Santa Cruz.

   

  Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce is close to sealing a $2.5million deal for Newcastle striker Alan Smith.

  Allardyce, who has rejected a $2m offer from Olympiakos for Matt Derbyshire, has been targeting the ex-England man since he took over at Ewood Park.

  Newcastle are desperate to offload Smith following their relegation and may help contribute to his $60,000-a-week wages.

  Smith failed to make an impact despite being bought from Manchester United for $5m. Allardyce is convinced the one-time England front man could be a bargain priced replacement for the departing Roque Santa Cruz.

  Derbyshire, meanwhile, wants to return to Olympiakos but Rovers have demanded closer to $5m for the 23-year-old.

  It takes a brave man to wear a light blue suit when visiting the red part of Manchester, but maybe Kia Joorabchian was trying to send a message to the United board.

  Joorabchian, who heads the group of companies who own Carlos Tevez, was locked in talks with United chairman David Gill on Wednesday.

  United are ready to pay the full price for the popular striker now, but they may be too late, with Manchester City keen on playing him alongside Samuel Eto'o and Robinho.

  AC's £15m Manu bid

  

   

  AC MILAN will make a bid of £15million for Emmanuel Adebayor this week. 

  The Serie A club are desperate to give their fans some positive news after Carlo Ancelotti's departure for Chelsea and Kaka's impending exit from the San Siro.

  Milan offered £25m for the Arsenal striker last summer but the bid was turned down.

  Their valuation has decreased after a mediocre season from the Togo international.

  Adebayor netted 16 times last term - which was a huge disappointment after his 30-goal return the season before.

  Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is willing to sell the 25-year-old as he attempts to rebuild a side which struggled to finish fourth in the Premier League last term.

  Milan were interested in Didier Drogba but, as SunSport revealed two months ago, the striker is to be offered a new deal by Chelsea. 

  Drogba, 31, is likely to agree a three-year contract next month.

  Ricardo Carvalho is prepared to leave Chelsea after suffering what he called "the worst year of my life" while battling with injury.

  The 31-year-old defender, speaking while on international duty with Portugal, is ready to contemplate a fresh start.

  "First they have to reach an agreement with the club and then talk to me, but I am available for whoever wants me the most," Carvalho said.

  "It has been the worst year of my life, with injury after injury."

  "I want to be where I feel good. It's obvious that it's hard now to respond to these questions because I had four fantastic years at Chelsea and this last year hasn't been good at all."

  Carvalho has made more than 100 appearances for Chelsea since following Jose Mourinho from Porto in 2004, but played only 18 times this past season.
